Friday, April 24 is Arbor Day, one of our favorite holidays at AVLT. This national holiday represents hope for the future, and invites everyone to participate in small acts that add up to make a big impact. While most holidays are reflective or commemorative of something from the past, Arbor Day is all about creating a better tomorrow, just like the mission of AVLT.
Dating back to 1872 in Nebraska City, Nebraska, Arbor Day is now celebrated in all fifty states. It has a special place in AVLT's history as well, as our founders gathered on Arbor Day in 1967 to plant trees along Main Street in Aspen.
You can help celebrate this Arbor Day by making a special gift to help plant trees as part of AVLT's restoration efforts. If 25 people donate $25, we will be able to plant 100 Ponderosa pines at Coffman Ranch! Want to dig deeper? If another 25 people donate $25, we could also re-seed 2 acres of degraded fields with native wildflower and grass seed, improving pollinator and wildlife habitat.
