Caring for land

Your support fulfills AVLT’s commitment to care for land, waterways, resources, working lands, and wildlife habitat. Much like you express your love for the land by respecting and caring for your recreation spaces, we achieve this commitment by maintaining connection to the land and relationships with landowner and partners.

Through annual site visits, we observe and document changes to conserved properties and respond to any issues or needs. We maintain clear and open communication with landowners to ensure promises are upheld, to respond to any inquiries, and to help remedy any issues. We serve as a source for natural resource information and best management practices to better achieve our mutual goals for the land. We strive to honor our commitment to landowners, to the land, and to you, our community.

Stewardship forms the basis to keep water and air clean, provide habitat for wildlife, protect places to grow and raise food, and maintain access to spaces for outdoor education and recreation. Both now and for generations to come.

Protecting the Land and Landowner Partnership
The placement of a conservation easement on a property is just the first step down a very long stewardship path. We inventory the natural resources of a property, which informs the value and importance of the conservation easement, and provides the baseline for long-term stewardships goals.

We strive to be a resource to owners of conserved properties by providing natural resources expertise and information, responding to requests, and working to remedy any issues. We are here to be a resource for landowners of protected places.

Ensuring Protection
After we establish a conservation easement, we visit protected land to observe and document changes through time and to continue our long-term relationships with the landowners.

Investing in a healthier future

Caring for land keeps your water and air clean, provides habitat and migration corridors for wildlife, and creates access to outdoor education and recreation.
Your future way of life, generations, health, and favorite places depend on how we care for our land now.
