The lands and waters in the Roaring Fork and Colorado River valleys are vital – and under threat. In the face of development pressure, loss of biodiversity, and climate change, it is more urgent than ever that we protect the region’s most important places.
And as our communities change and grow, we need to ensure that everyone, especially community members who have traditionally been underserved, have access to parks, trails, nature, and the benefits of conservation. |
As a community-supported conservation organization, Aspen Valley Land Trust has conserved over 67 square miles of land in Western Colorado. We work with local families and communities throughout the Roaring Fork and Colorado River valleys to protect the land, water, wildlife, and way of life you love. With your help, we conserve wildlife habitat, wetlands, working farms and ranches, parks and trails, and the scenic open lands that make Western Colorado so special. We believe in providing opportunities for all children, communities, and future generations to connect with nature, local agriculture, and outdoor experiences. This is only the beginning. Only with your support can we protect more of the places you love. |

Is your land part of your family’s history, your heritage, your story? Do you want to protect your special place to ensure it will be here now and for future generations? We are here to help you reach your family’s conservation goals.
A conservation easement is a voluntary agreement between a landowner and a land trust that permanently limits certain types of development while allowing for anticipated future uses on a property. Land placed into a conservation easement still belongs to the landowner, and the landowner retains the rights to sell the land or pass it on to family. |
