You love these places,

Brown bears habitat in Roaring Fork valley

     but they are changing

While their value to the region is unmatched, nature and open lands are under severe threat and face an uncertain future. Some of the most important challenges to the community health and character of our communities include:
  • Population growth and development
  • Diminishing habitat and corridors for wildlife
  • Extreme/unpredictable weather and climate change
  • Water quality and quantity
  • Decreasing connection of children to nature
  • A changing and diversifying community with diverse needs

Protecting and caring for the places you love since 1967

As a community-supported conservation organization, people like you have helped Aspen Valley Land Trust conserve over 67 square miles of land in Western Colorado. We work with  local families and communities throughout the Roaring Fork and middle Colorado River valleys to protect the land, water, wildlife, and way of life you love.

With your help, we conserve wildlife habitat, rivers, wetlands, working ranches and farms, parks and trails, and the scenic open lands that make Western Colorado so special.

We believe in providing opportunities for all children, communities, and future generations to connect with nature, local agriculture, and outdoor experiences.

This is only the beginning. There’s much more work to do. Only with your support can we protect our Western landscapes, wildlife, and way of life.

Conserving your land

PROTECT YOUR LAND
Is your land part of your family’s history, your heritage, your story? Is your land in your blood? Is it your home? Do you want to protect your special place to ensure it will be here now and for future generations? We are here to help you reach your and your family’s conservation goals.

A conservation easement is a voluntary agreement between a landowner and a land trust that permanently limits certain types of future development while allowing for anticipated future uses on a property. Land placed into a conservation easement still belongs to the landowner, and the landowner retains the rights to sell the land or pass it on to family.
